Social impact is about people, especially people in vulnerable situations, and begins with respect for human rights. Beyond that, we want to make a positive impact around financial inclusivity, financial resilience and equal opportunities. We want to tackle social challenges for and with our clients, and help build a society in which everyone can participate.

Banking is about people first and foremost

When you think of banking, things like savings accounts, mortgages and business loans may spring to mind. But if you look beyond these, banking is ultimately about people. It’s about our clients, our colleagues, people in our clients’ supply chains and in the companies our clients invest in. Most of them are autonomous enough to look after themselves – but not all of them. Our bank plays a pivotal role in society, so we have opportunities to help people in vulnerable positions.

Human rights

Respecting human rights is an important element in everything we do at ABN AMRO. Society expects that of us, but more importantly, we see it as key to doing business responsibly.

Investing in social entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneurs aim to achieve a social goal based on a profitable revenue model. ABN AMRO provides both financial and practical support to social entrepreneurs.

Diversity and inclusion

We increase the number of employees with disabilities or from non-Western backgrounds, want to get more women at the top, and to be a company where everyone is comfortable expressing their sexual orientation.

Equal opportunities for all

We leverage our expertise to promote equal opportunities. We do that through our services, who we are as an employer, our sponsorship portfolio, ABN AMRO Foundation, and more.
