Regulators
ABN AMRO is regulated by the European Central Bank (ECB), in close cooperation with the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank or DNB), and by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten or AFM).
As part of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), the ECB is responsible for supervising the significant banks in the eurozone. The main aims of the SSM are to ensure the safety and soundness of the European banking system, to increase financial integration and stability, and to ensure consistent supervision.
The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) is responsible for supervising the operation of the financial markets in the Netherlands. The AFM supervises the conduct of the entire financial market sector, including savings, investment, insurance and loans.
