Sponsoring & Foundation

Every child should be allowed to dream about their future. For children from families where money is tight, however, or who live in an unsafe neighbourhood and are unable to explore the world around them, it is almost impossible to dream of a better future. This puts those children at a disadvantage, one that in most cases will last the rest of their lives. Even in the Netherlands, opportunities are not equally accessible to all, and there’s still a world of difference to be made in that respect. We believe that every child in the Netherlands should have equal opportunities and an exciting future.

Equal opportunities for every child

ABN AMRO takes its social responsibility seriously. Since 2001, the bank’s own ABN AMRO Foundation has been dedicated to making society better. Since 2018, the Foundation has been working together with the Dutch Youth Education Fund and efforts to create equal opportunities for children and young adults have become more and more important. For example, ABN AMRO Foundation works with almost 80 primary schools where more than half the children have problems at home.

An engaged bank

No child should have to be held back all their life by a poor start. That is why more than 5,000 of the bank's people get involved to help kids discover where their talents and interests lie. They often do this several times a year. Together, they share new experiences that teach the kids about themselves and expand their horizons. It is an opportunity to give them personal attention. Not only is this good for the kids, it also teaches the volunteers to see the world around them through different eyes.

Experiences that make a difference

Every year, we organise hundreds of activities to give the kids an experience that is often out of reach at home. We might visit a museum, for example, or discover a new sport or teach a class. We do not do this by ourselves, but together with various partners.

Foundation

Every child has the right to a bright future

ABN AMRO Foundation zet zich sinds 2001 in voor kinderen en jongeren die opgroeien in een minder kansrijke omgeving.

What we dedicate: time, attention and expertise

ABN AMRO employees are offered scope to spend one week doing volunteer work instead of working. They take part in one of the Foundation’s activities, or they share their specific expertise to help in a particular area. The Foundation also hosts meetings every year to share information about inequality of opportunity with the country’s key players and to look for partners and solutions.
