King’s Day will return to its traditional form in 2022: a riot of orange, celebrations everywhere and of course the flea markets – the perfect opportunity to sell all the odds and ends that you have accumulated over the past few years, or to pick up exciting second-hand items for next to nothing. Now you can use the Tikkie QR code to make buying and selling easier than ever.

The Tikkie QR code is an existing functionality in the Tikkie app. It is particularly popular with companies and entrepreneurs. Although most people use WhatsApp to share their Tikkie payment requests, you can also scan or print a QR code. This means that you can display the QR code next to your stall, blanket or music stand. The customer scans the code with the app or a QR app on his or her mobile and pays directly through their own bank. The buyer does not need to be in someone's contacts, so payment is fast and secure. The payment is credited to your account immediately, without any fiddling around with cash.

How to create a QR code

  • Create a new Tikkie in the Tikkie app, and select the option ‘Let your friends choose the amount’

  • Add a description and share via the Tikkie QR code icon at the bottom of the screen.

  • Choose the ‘print code’ option and email the QR code to yourself.

  • Print and display the QR code or ask your customers to scan the QR code on your phone.

Joint campaign with Giro555

Tikkie has also organised a joint campaign together with relief organisation Giro555, so users can display a Giro555 QR code to raise money for Ukraine. Customers buy your goods, and the proceeds go directly to Giro555. This QR code is recognisable by the Tikkie and Giro555 logo, which can be downloaded from giro555.nl/vrijmarkt.

Prize draw

To encourage as many people as possible to join in, Tikkie has set up a prize draw: simply by creating a QR code and forwarding it to your own email address from the Tikkie app, you could win your own fully decorated market stand from Tikkie – just what you need for a perfect King’s Day! Entry in the prize draw is possible from 18 to 24 April.

Tikkie QR code campaign

The Tikkie QR code will also be the focus of a social media campaign this week, including a new video, which you can watch here.
