Eric has had an open relationship with his wife for 34 years, and for a few years now they have been in a quad polyamorous relationship. Not everyone at his workplace at ABN AMRO knows this yet, which is why Eric thinks it’s important to come out: “So I can be myself.” Listen to the podcast above (in Dutch only).

With the ‘Feeling confident in the workplace’ campaign, we provide a stage for our employees who have had to break through barriers just to be themselves. As part of Pride Week, we start the series with our LGBTI+ employees.

In this podcast, we talk to Eric. Eric works at ABN AMRO as a process & project enabler, improving processes at the bank and ensuring that all processes are compliant with laws and regulations.

Eric’s poly relationship involves coexistent intimate relationships between several people. “For me, this means being able to give and feel love for more than one person,” he explains. “Thatcan be a man, a woman or someone in transition. I am attracted to people.” Because not all his work colleagues know of this yet, Eric thinks it’s important to come out. This way, he can be completely himself at work.

Safe working environment

Daring to be yourself and being proud of who you are, that is the essence of self-confidence. At ABN AMRO, we have been promoting a working environment where everyone can bethemselves and feel safe and comfortable, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

In the series ‘Feeling confident in the workplace’ we talk with colleagues about being yourself at work and feeling safe in doing so. As part of Pride Week, we start the series with our LGBTI+ employees.
