Energetic like 100,000 joules - kids at the Energy Bootcamp
How sustainable are children now – and how sustainable will they be when they grow up? A group of children tested this at the Energy Bootcamp during the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. They measured their own climate footprint and came up with ideas to achieve a clean future. Lotte Stekelenburg (11) attended the bootcamp. ‘I don’t think people need to own two cars. One electric car is enough.’
No lending without the new sustainability test
For the past six months ABN AMRO has been using a new tool for assessing credit applications, which measures the client’s sustainability track record when they approach the bank for financing. Joop Wijn, member of the Managing Board, says this is one of the bank’s most important sustainability achievements in recent years. ‘It makes sustainability tangible and a structural part of the bank’s core product offering.’
Richard (re)tweets: ‘Sustainability doesn’t have to be pricey’
Head of Sustainable Banking Richard Kooloos ranks his favourite tweets and retweets once every three months. This quarter’s picks: returns on a portfolio without oil and gas, the power of Norway’s pension fund for civil servants, and our integrated Annual Report.
Why green bonds are so incredibly popular
The green bond market has multiplied by twelve in four years, and Apple has now hopped on board too. ABN AMRO’s 500 million euro green bond attracted twice as many investors as possible. Joop Hessels, Executive Director, DCM Green Bonds at ABN AMRO, thinks this is just the beginning.
Circular experiment: the impact of our green pavilion
There are only a few circular buildings in the world, but a new one is currently in the make. Next to its head office in the Zuidas business district of Amsterdam, ABN AMRO is building a ‘circular pavilion’ which will serve as a meeting place for clients, employees and the bank’s neighbours. The builders are working hard to make sure that the pavilion can open its doors in early 2017.
Where does the bank stand in a sector of extremes?
Richard Retweets
Head of Sustainable Banking Richard Kooloos ranks his favourite tweets and retweets once every three months. This quarter’s picks: the impact of solar roofing tiles, choosing between the economy and the environment, and the bank-wide green bond.
