Today ABN AMRO announces the appointment – as of 1 May 2023 – of Suzanne van Niekerk as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of ABN AMRO. In this role, she reports to CEO Robert Swaak. Since the departure of former CHRO Gerard Penning in December 2022, Suzanne has already fulfilled this position on an interim base.

Suzanne started as ABN AMRO trainee 25 years ago and fulfilled several positions in the bank. In the last 15 years, Suzanne held a number of senior management positions in the HR Business domain and gained extensive experience in all aspects of HR.

As CHRO she will focus on making ABN AMRO even more attractive as an employer, by promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity, focusing on leadership and customer focus and creating an environment in which personal development is given all the space it needs.

Robert Swaak: ‘Considering her background and career, I feel Suzanne is eminently placed for this role. I am convinced that Suzanne will lead the HR function as a thoughtful and authentic leader and looking forward to keep working in close collaboration with her on people-related topics.
