ABN AMRO’s Dow Jones Sustainability Index score improved
ABN AMRO scored 76 out of a possible 100 points this year in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment. This was 8 points more than in 2023, putting the bank in the top 20 percent of the highest scores in the sector*. With this score, ABN AMRO has again earned a place in the S&P Global Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe. S&P Global announced the results on 16 December.
The gain is largely driven by formalising our approach work to promote financial inclusion. ABN AMRO also scored well in the categories Tax Strategy, Human Rights, Business Ethics and Materiality (determining the most impactful sustainability and other topics for our organisation), thanks to our policies and transparency, among others. There was a 16-point difference between ABN AMRO and the sector leader.
Annual survey
Each year, S&P Global assesses thousands of international companies on their environmental, social, governance and economic policies. S&P Global then uses these scores to determine whether to include them in the DJSI and the Sustainability Yearbook, scheduled for publication in February 2025.
*ABN AMRO’s relative position in the sector will be announced definitively in 2025. Companies that are not eligible for inclusion in the DJSI – for example, because they are not listed – are still being assessed in the meanwhile.
