ABN AMRO will host its 8th International Human Rights Conference on 9 December 2022, both online and at the ABN AMRO Conference Centre, Gustav Mahlerlaan 10, Amsterdam. The event will be dedicated to the ‘Just Transition’ and the role companies can and need to play.

A Just Transition

The importance of aligning with the Paris Agreement to help limit global warming is widely understood, but too often we hear little about the social impact of the netzero transition.A just transition involves maximising the social and economic opportunities of climate action, while preventing and carefully addressing adverse human rights impacts. It’s about a fair green future for all.

How does the corporate responsibility to respect human rights relate to the low-carbon transition? How can companies assess whether they are doing enough to mitigate adverse human rights impacts, and what does ‘enough’ look like? How can financial institutions allocate their money responsibly?

Conference

More knowledge about the Just Transition is needed. We see momentum for moving the Just Transition higher up the climate agenda. For this reason, ABN AMRO’s 8th Human Rights Conference on 9 December 2022 will focus on the Just Transition. Speakers on the program are from SHIFT, Clifford Chance, International Labour Organization, EOS Federated Hermes, World Benchmark Alliance, FNV, Free Press Unlimited, HIVOS and ABN AMRO. The moderator of the conference is Julie Schindall from Levin Sources.
