ABN AMRO Ventures invests in PrimaryBid, retail platform for public equity transactions

ABN AMRO Ventures has made an investment in PrimaryBid, a technology platform enabling retail investors to participate in public equity offerings on the same terms as institutional investors.
PrimaryBid’s mission is to empower retail investors in the public markets by removing obstacles to their participation in corporate fundraisings, thus enhancing fairness and transparency. PrimaryBid successfully launched its digital platform in the United Kingdom and has delivered a number of high-profile FTSE capital raises in 2020. The company is currently exploring opportunities to expand into the Eurozone, where it has a partnership with Euronext, including the Netherlands.
ABN AMRO Ventures is investing in PrimaryBid because the bank wants to spearhead innovation in the financial industry. The platform is offered alongside and aligned with the products and services of the bank’s Equity Capital Markets division. ABN AMRO will also play a leading role in PrimaryBid’s strategy to further expand its presence in the Benelux and the EU as a whole.
Anand Sambasivan, CEO of PrimaryBid comments: “We are delighted to be able to include ABN AMRO in this fundraise and look forward to working closely with its team as we expand into Europe. Our simple, inclusive technology allows corporate issuers to access the widest possible set of investors, improving capital formation and putting the public back into public markets.”
Hugo Bongers, Director of ABN AMRO Ventures adds: “Our investment in PrimaryBid is a good fit with our portfolio and provides access to unique innovation within established and institutional domain of the equity capital markets. We believe in democratising the capital markets; PrimaryBid can play a leading role here, in Europe and beyond. We look forward to our strategic collaboration with PrimaryBid’s management as we team up to create added value for our clients and other stakeholders.”
