ABN AMRO to remain Ajax Women’s main sponsor until 2028
ABN AMRO and Ajax have extended their longstanding partnership, with the bank committing to be Ajax Women’s main sponsor until at least the end of 2028. The new agreement will take effect on 1 July 2025, marking the tenth year of ABN AMRO’s sponsorship of the Ajax elite women’s team. The bank has partnered with Ajax in various ways for over thirty years now and will also continue to be the club’s civil society partner.
Cas Biesta, Commercial Director at Ajax: “Last season, we played in the quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, in front of a crowd of almost 36,000 fans in Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff ArenA. This was a record turnout for a women’s football match in the Netherlands and testimony to the growing interest and huge steps that have been taken to advance women’s football. We’re thankful for the role played by ABN AMRO so far and for the extension of our partnership. They have made an unmistakable contribution to the development of Ajax Women in the past 10 years, and by extending our partnership we are showing that we both have great ambitions for the near future.”
Sander Bestevaar, Head of Partnerships, Events & Foundations at ABN AMRO: “When we entered a new phase in our longstanding partnership with Ajax as the main sponsor of Ajax Women in 2015 we had a clear ambition. Now, ten years on, this ambition has grown to become an exemplar for creating equal opportunities. What started off with a single women’s team has turned into a fully-fledged professional organisation. We’ve put our soul into building the facilities for Ajax Women at De Toekomst sports complex and into investing in the youth academy for girls, which is growing every year. But our ambitions remain undiminished and we look forward to the period ahead in which we will work even more closely with Ajax to advance women’s football and break down barriers. In that respect, we’ve only just begun.”
