ABN AMRO finances Bajes Kwartier, a new sustainable city district

Bajes Kwartier has teamed up with a large group of partners to help create this city district of the future. After a tight race, national government and the municipality of Amsterdam granted the permits to a consortium made up of AM, AT Capital and Cairn. ABN AMRO is putting up the funding for Bajes Kwartier and was selected partly because of its bank-wide Mission 2030 sustainability ambitions. By making sustainable all homes and offices it finances, ABN AMRO and its clients can reduce carbon emissions by around two megatonnes of CO2 a year by 2030.

Rutger Schuur, Director of Commercial Banking Clients, sees this ambitious project as a great example of how sustainability and business can join forces. "We're very proud of this collaboration. With its carbon-neutral and circular-economy aspirations, Bajes Kwartier is a perfect fit for our ambitions."
